The school has received an award for excellence in Science and Maths each year for the last seven years. During the present school year we will once again apply for this award.
To achieve the award, the boys and girls will have to complete four steps:
Step 1: Engage in hands-on science investigations.
Step 2: Use technology as part of their school work.
Step 3: Investigate engineering in the class or in the local area.
Step 4: Use maths skills as part of their science work.
In addition, scientists and engineers will visit the school. They will carry out experiments and investigations with the pupils. The pupils will become mini scientists and engineers!
Annie, the school gardener, will work with teachers and pupils in developing their interest in nature and the great outdoors.
Parents can find out more information by visiting www.primaryscience.ie.
Some classes are already busy with investigations.
